- Providing prompt, efficient, caring health regimen to the college community.
- Maintaining favorable working relationships with health care providers of the Grinnell community, including but not limited to the local hospital, physicians, clinics and pharmacies.
- Assisting with medical appointments to: Physicians, Dentists, Poweshiek County Mental Health Center, Chiropractors, Optometrists, Woman's Health and Education Clinic, and Grinnell Regional Medical Center.
- Transportation to local medical appointments
- Notification to professors of class absence due to illness
- Assisting staff members of student affairs with student concerns
- Assisting with the health education of the campus by providing brochures and increasing the availability for medical information. (Our new Information Nurse provides non emergent medical information via the e-mail)
- Dispensing of over the counter medications: Antacids, antihistamine, cough medication, decongestants, pain reliever (aspirin, acetaminophen & ibuprofen), throat lozenges and ointments (antifungal powder and cream, antibacterial ointment & hydrocortisone cream) and pediculicide shampoo
- Promoting the influenza inoculation and the use of the college Sub Acute Care Program
- Assistance with admittance to Grinnell College/Grinnell Regional Medical Center Sub Acute Care Program
- Pregnancy and HIV OraSure oral specimen antibody test
- Mono, Strep A and Urine testing,hemoglobin,bloodsugar and pregnancy testing.
- Dispensing of the "Morning after pill"-Plan B
- Mental Health walk-in appointments available at no charge
- Articles for loan: heating pads, humidifers, canes, crutches, slings and basins
- Meeting the blood-borne pathogen standards required by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Ammendments of 1988
- Assisting the Safety Officer of Grinnell College with the implementation of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration for the campus.
