Resources for Faculty

The Office of Interdisciplinary Studies seeks to foster discussion and to create the conditions for creative thinking and boundary-crossing collaborations that are at the heart of interdisciplinary work. Working with the Interdisciplinary Fellows and the faculty and student Advisory Board, the OIS supports faculty and student discussion through Common Grounds lunches and by summer stipends and other support for curricular development. It also advises individuals and groups regarding offering collaboratively-taught, integrative, and/or interdisciplinary courses and developing EKI position proposals. Please consult this website for regular updates about the ongoing implementation of the Expanding Knowledge Initiative, Second-Year Retreats, recommendations for implementing the EKI, and models for teaching interdisciplinary, integrative, and collaboratively-taught courses. The Office of Interdisciplinary Studies welcomes feedback from faculty, students and staff: contact Marci Sortor sortor@grinnell.edu
