SUMMER FUN AT GRINNELL’S FAULCONER GALLERY

GRINNELL, IA--Grinnell College’s Faulconer Gallery is offering seven weeks of free summer arts programming for area children and families. The Faulconer Arts Outreach in the Parks will offer children a choice of activities at each session held in city parks.

"Faulconer Outreach in the Parks is a family program that rotates each week to another park, with supervised arts activities at each session," said Tilly Woodward, curator of academic and community outreach. "This is a drop-in program, so no registration is required, and parents are welcome to participate with their children."

"The art sessions are intended to encourage students to explore, think through new concepts and techniques, and to develop their creative process," Woodward said. "People of all ages are welcome. Activities will include painting, drawing, collage, printmaking, textiles, puppets, ceramics, jewelry, wood cutouts, truck glittering, and more." Woodward modeled the Grinnell program after a successful city of Pella arts program that was recognized by the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs in 2007.
