GRINNELL COLLEGE DIRECTOR OF CAREER DEVELOPMENT APPOINTED
GRINNELL, IA.- Kathleen I. Powell has been appointed associate dean and director of career development at Grinnell College.
Powell, who joined the Grinnell staff at the beginning of the 2007-08 academic year, has more than 20 years experience in higher education career services at liberal arts colleges including Knox College, Ashland University, and Marietta College where she was recognized for her work with students of color.
A board member and vice-president of the National Association of Colleges and Employers, Powell also serves on the diversity advancement committee for the association. She is also past president of the Midwest Association of Colleges and Employers and the Illinois Small College Placement Association. She is currently published in "Campus Career Counselor" and serves on the Professional Practices Committee for the Midwest Association for Colleges and Employers.
"I am excited to be a part of the Grinnell College community, working with our students, alumni, and faculty," Powell said. "Over the past six months, I have been very pleased with the feedback about our new programs and services."
Powell holds a B.A. in psychology from the University of Akron and a master’s in college student personnel from the Miami University of Ohio. She was awarded the management leadership certificate for career services professionals from the National Association of Colleges and Employers and received the J.W. Paquette Superior Leadership Award for consistent and significant leadership to the profession.
