Two wireless networks are available "GrinnellCollegeGuest" and GrinnellCollegeWireless"
A connection to the "GrinnellCollegeGuest" wireless network only requires an 802.11b or 802.11g compatible network adapter.
"GrinnellCollegeGuest" is an open network requiring no encryption, however it does require authentication to Grinnell's Network Admission system "Clean Access". Instructions and an explanation of Clean Access are found here. . The Grinnell College Guest network is limited to the following protocols: http, https, ssh, secure smtp, imaps to provide some security within an unsecured network. These protocols provide browsing, secure browsing, secure shell, and sending/receiving secure mail.
To access "GrinnellCollegeGuest" you may use your username and password; however if you are a guest on campus you need to contact the host department or host unit to receive a guest pass.
"GrinnellCollegeWireless" requires encryption and authentication with WiFi Protected Access (WPA / WPA2) standards. Follow these links for steps on how to connect.

Windows laptops - There are a couple of ways to configure a windows laptop to connect.
1. Aegis SecureConnect client (recommended) - Use these instructions to install the pre-configured client software. Aegis is available for free to Grinnell College Faculty, Staff and Students.

2. Existing Connection Manager (recommended for IBM ThinkPad) - Use these instructions to configure an existing connection manger, i.e. Intel PROSet, ThinkVantage Access Connections.
