Beginning July 28, ITS will be upgrading campus desktop machines from
Office
2003 (PC) and Office 2004 (Macintosh) to Office versions 2007 and 2008,
respectively.
What Can You Expect?
The upgrade will take place during the overnight hours. You will
receive an
email from ITS a day or two in advance of your date, with more specific
details about when the upgrade will occur, and in what state to leave
your
computer when you leave for the day.
When you return to work, you may see a screen regarding Office when you
log
in, but no other action should be necessary.
All faculty and staff will be receiving, via campus mail, quick
reference
cards that describe some of the changes that you will see when using the
new
software, plus hints on some of the new and existing features.
What Do You Need To Do?
Laptop Users: You will need to, as soon as possible, contact the
helpdesk
or your support team to verify that you computer is ready for this
installation. Additionally, having your computer left in the office and
plugged into both power and data is necessary to receive the upgrade.
Faculty: If you are a laptop user and will not be on campus during the
upgrade, please contact your support team to make arrangements for this
to
happen as soon as possible when you return to campus.
