Energy Inside
June 1 - September 16, 2001
This exhibition presented work by five contemporary sculptors dealing with issues of force, growth and power. Artists in the exhibition included Steve Currie, Heide Fasnacht, Erik Levine, Matthew McCaslin, and Sheila Pepe.

A new installation by Sandy Skoglund commissioned by the Faulconer Gallery. For the first time, the internationally known artist's work was installed both indoors and outdoors, inaugurating Grinnell College's Holden Sculpture Courtyard.

Estonian Art Since 1990

An exhibition that introduced contemporary Estonian art to this country and explored the changes in Estonian culture since its independence from the Soviet Union. The exhibition included recent work by avant-garde artists of the dissident groups ANK 64, SOUP 69, and Tõnis Vint's Studio 22. Curated by John Mohan, Department of Russian and Kay Wilson Jenkins, Curator of the Grinnell College Collection.

Iraqi Art and Literature Around the World
January 29 - March 15, 2002
Contemporary work by Iraqi artists living around the world, presented in conjunction with a symposium on the destruction of an ancient culture by current political and military action. The symposium was sponsored by the Faulconer Gallery, Rosenfield Program in Public Affairs, International Relations and Human Rights; and Center for International Studies at Grinnell College.

Walking a Tightrope: German Expressionist Printmaking 1904-1928
April 1-21, 2002
An exhibition of the John L. and Roslyn Bakst Goldman Collection of German Expressionist Prints recently acquired by Grinnell College. The collection features over 70 works by 20 artists who worked in Germany between the world wars. The exhibition was curated by students in Professor Jenny Anger's exhibition seminar using the Goldman collection and other works in the Grinnell College Art Collection.

Wake Up Little Susie

Herrick Chapel
A mixed-media sculptural installation about pregnancy, abortion and race in postwar, pre-Roe v. Wade America, created by Kay Obering, Cathleen Meadows, and Kathy Hutton in response to the book by the same name by scholar Rickie Solinger. The piece was presented in the chapel to facilitate discussion and use by many constituents. Exhibition and events were co-sponsored by Gender and Women's Studies; Center for Religion, Spirituality and Social Justice; and Faulconer Gallery.

Drawings from the Grinnell College Collection

Drawings range from a sixteenth century Italian chalk drawing attributed to Jacopo Bassano (1510-1592) to work by young contemporary artists Emily Eveleth and Till Freiwald. Among the recent acquisitions is Marion Mahony Griffin's 1911 presentation drawing of the Benjamin J. Ricker Residence, Grinnell, Iowa.
