An exhibition that introduced contemporary Estonian art to this country and explored the changes in Estonian culture since its independence from the Soviet Union. The exhibition included recent work by avant-garde artists of the dissident groups ANK 64, SOUP 69, and Tõnis Vint's Studio 22. An exhibition of the John L. and Roslyn Bakst Goldman Collection of German Expressionist Prints recently acquired by Grinnell College. The collection features over 70 works by 20 artists who worked in Germany between the world wars. The exhibition was curated by students in Professor Jenny Anger's exhibition seminar using the Goldman collection and other works in the Grinnell College Art Collection. |

A mixed-media sculptural installation about pregnancy, abortion and race in postwar, pre-Roe v. Wade America, created by Kay Obering, Cathleen Meadows, and Kathy Hutton in response to the book by the same name by scholar Rickie Solinger. The piece was presented in the chapel to facilitate discussion and use by many constituents. Exhibition and events were co-sponsored by Gender and Women's Studies; Center for Religion, Spirituality and Social Justice; and Faulconer Gallery. |

Drawings range from a sixteenth century Italian chalk drawing attributed to Jacopo Bassano (1510-1592) to work by young contemporary artists Emily Eveleth and Till Freiwald. Among the recent acquisitions is Marion Mahony Griffin's 1911 presentation drawing of the Benjamin J. Ricker Residence, Grinnell, Iowa. |
