Committee Purpose
The Campus Advisory Committee on Environmental Concerns (EcoCampus) is a group of faculty, staff and student representatives who meet on a regular basis, typically once or twice a month, to address campus environmental issues. The committee was developed to:
- Provide a central voice for environmental concerns
- Ensure consideration of environmental issues by all parts of the college
- Publicize environmental problems and progress
- Research specific environmental issues and propose solutions to the college
Recent Accomplishments
The committee has recently:
- Implemented a set of environmental indicators used to measure the college's environmental footprint. The indicators will be published yearly in the Grinnell Factbook as a means to inform the campus of Grinnell's environmental stewardship
- Provided recommendations for the Wind Feasibility Committee, a group looking at the feasibility of utilizing wind power to provide energy for campus
- Created a set of green building guidelines for the college
Meeting Information
Meetings are open to campus members at large and students, faculty or staff interested in raising environmental issues are welcome to attend. Contact the committee chair, Monty Roper (roperjm@grinnell.edu) , for meeting times and location, or to have an item added to the agenda.
Membership
Membership is made up of faculty, staff and students, based on appointment procedures outline on the EcoCampus website.
