The Grinnell College women's golf team heads to Illinois this weekend for a pair of invitationals.
The Pioneers are participating in the Knox College Invitational on Friday and then heading to Monmouth for the Fighting Scot Invitational on Saturday. Grinnell opened its season last weekend with a 10th-place finish at the Illinois College Invitational. The Pioneers, who shot a score of 787, were led by Amy Livingston's '09 two-day total of 192 (92-100).
After the weekend, Grinnell heads to Dubuque to participate in the Loras Invitational on Sept. 12.
The Grinnell College women’s golf team entered the final day of the Illinois College Invitational in 10th place and finished up in the same spot Sunday.
The Pioneers, who shot a score of 787, were led by Amy Livingston’s ’09 two-day total of 192 (92-100). That was good for a 49th-place tie. Jordan Heguy ’09 and Ashlen Matzdorf ’11 tied for 56th with 198s, as Heguy went 99 and 99 and Matzdorf shot 97 and 101. Stephanie Goggin ’10 tied for 59th with a 199 (100-99) and Dena Rennard ’10 was 68th with a 215 (112-103).
Jada Bennington of William Woods University was the individual medalist with a 152. William Woods, which had the top five individual finishers, coasted to the team title with a 617.
Grinnell is back in action next weekend, playing in the Knox College Invitational on Friday and Monmouth College Invitational on Saturday.

The Grinnell College women's golf team returns several of its top players as it looks for a successful campaign in 2008.
Among the returnees is Jordan Heguy '09, who converted a late hot streak at the end of the season into a 12th-place finish at the Midwest Conference Championships. Other returnees who helped guide the Pioneers to a fifth-place team finish at the meet are Amy Livingston '09 (18th place), Stephanie Goggin '10 (tie for 22nd place), Ashlen Matzdorf '11 (26th), and Dena Rennard '10 (tie for 30th). Livingston had perhaps the highlight of the Pioneers' 2007 campaign when she earned Midwest Conference Performer of the Week honors after tying for third place at the Knox College Invitational.
Rounding out the 2008 Grinnell team are Gwen Deger '11 and Evelyn Anderson '12. The Pioneers open their campaign Saturday and Sunday at the Illinois College Invitational. Grinnell will host the 2008 Midwest Conference Championships at Grinnell Country Club Oct. 3-5.
Grinnell College wound up fifth at the Midwest Conference Women's Golf Championships Sunday at Glen Erin Golf Club in Janesville, Wis.
The Pioneers fired a team score of 1157 over the three-day meet. Illinois College was the champ with 1022.
Leading the Pioneers was Jordan Heguy '08, who finished 12th with a 277. Other Grinnell golfers were Amy Livingston '09 (18th with a 292), Stephanie Goggin '10 (tied for 22nd with a 296), Ashlen Matzdorf 11 (26th at 299), Dena Rennard (tied for 30th with a 313) and Zair Burris (tied for 32nd with a 314).
Andrea Liebelt of St. Norbert won the title with a 241, eight strokes in front of runner-up Janelle Kuhn of Illinois College, who shot a 249.
