Grinnell women's basketball team loses season finale
The Grinnell College women’s basketball team finished its 2007-08 campaign with an 86-61 loss to Illinois College Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, Grinnell finishes its season at 7-9 in the Midwest Conference and 9-14 overall. Illinois College improved to 7-9 in the MWC and 11-12 in all games.

Hannah Wolf ’08 finished her Pioneer career with a 21-point performance, while Mallory Scharf ’11 had 19 points. Wolf also had four assists and three steals, while Scharf pulled down nine rebounds. Lauren Napier had 21 points for the hosts.

Grinnell led in the early going, as Scharf’s 3-pointer at the start made it 3-0 in favor of the visitors and another trey and free throw by her put Grinnell up 7-4. But the hosts countered with a 13-3 run for a 17-10 lead and continued cruising for a 39-22 halftime edge.

Grinnell got within single digits once in the second half, that when Wolf’s trey made it 49-40 with 13:37 to play, but Illinois College took off for a 13-3 run to take command the rest of the way.
