Pioneers Close Out Regular Season with Tough Loss at Creighton

The Grinnell College men's tennis team played its final regular season contest of the season with a road trip to Division I foe, Creighton University, on Sunday afternoon. The Pioneers gave a strong showing, but fell just short, in the 4-3 loss. The match was played using the NCAA Division I scoring format.

DJ Warden '08 and Sam Raife '10 captured the only doubles victory in the match for the Pioneers, with a 9-7 victory over Chris Miller and Jose Guerra. Raife, along with Eli Best '07 and Eric Ohrn '07, won straight set matches in singles play.

Grinnell stands at 17-7 overall and will turn its focus towards winning its fourth straight conference championship team title this weekend during the Midwest Conference Men's Tennis Tournament. The team championships will be played on Friday, with individual doubles and singles action scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
