LES DUKE OUTDOOR TRACK COMPLEX

Les Duke Track The Les Duke outdoor track is an outstanding facility for all track and field events. The facility is named for the legendary, former coach of track and field at the college, G. Lester Duke. The 400 meter synthetic surface was new in 2002. The "track only" facility boasts the following: · multiple long jump/triple jump runways · a dedicated vault runway with oversize, top-of-the-line vault pits and crank standards at both ends of the runway · Multiple shot put rings · A discus/hammer facility with the finest throwing cage currently offered · A high jump apron that is 100 x 70 feet in size and with a new top-of-the-line jump pit with crank standards · New in 2002 are hurdles (top-of-the-line Gill) · The steeplechase has a movable water barrier to accommodate both men's and women's races. Steeple barriers with Mondo covers were new in 2002. · The new two-story finish line building built in 2002 has the new Lynx timing system and an outstanding sound system.

The site of home cross country meets, this course offers the runners outstanding footing and is a fair test of athletic ability. With rolling hills and flat sections, the course has been the site of two NCAA Championships, five NCAA Regional Championships (including 2003), and three Midwest Conference Championships.

KRUMM NATURE PRESERVE (Cross Country)

Krumm Nature Preserve

The Jacob Krumm Nature Preserve 6 miles from campus is the primary training ground for the cross country team. Offering natural- setting running loops of 3k, 5k, and 9k, the terrain is one of rolling hills with a variety of trees and vegetation and with several bodies of water.

ROCK CREEK STATE PARK (Cross Country)

Alt Text Rock Creek State Park is locacted just 6 miles from campus and is the site of all Sunday long runs. The natural trail around the lake is 11 miles in length. Various ancillary trails offer the runner options for running well over 20 miles withour repeating any of the trail.

ARBOR LAKE (Cross Country)

Alt Text A beautiful natural setting, Arbor Lake is just 1.5 miles from campus and is the site for many of the Kenyan runs (increasing tempo). It is one mile around the lake and is a natural running path.
