For the second time this season, Grinnell College's David Arseneault '09 has been named the Midwest Conference Men's Basketball Performer of the Week.
Arsenault, a 6-foot-2 guard from Grinnell (Grinnell HS), posted three double-doubles over the past week in a trio of Pioneer victories.
He had 16 points and 10 assists in a 114-113 overtime victory over Monmouth College last Monday and followed that up with a 16-point, 16-assist performance in a 100-80 win over Knox two nights later. On Saturday, Arseneault tallied 26 points and dished out 11 assists as the Pioneers wrapped up the regular season with a 105-99 win at Illinois College. In addition to averaging 19.3 points and 12.3 assists per game in the three contests, he also recorded the assist on John Grotberg's 3-pointer that helped the junior reach the 2,000-point milestone for his career.
Arseneault's efforts helped the Pioneers clinch the second seed in this week's Midwest Conference Tournament. The victories gave Grinnell a final regular-season record of 16-7 overall and 11-5 in the league.
