Alt Text
The Grinnell College women's golf team finished its 2008 campaign in impressive fashion Sunday with another record-setting round and a runner-up finish at the Midwest Conference Championships. One day after shooting a program-record score of 358, the Pioneers did even better with a 350 Sunday on the Grinnell Golf and Country Club links. Two Pioneers, Jordan Heguy '09 (left) and Amy Livingston '09 (right), also collected all-conference honors by placing among the top 10. Heguy was sixth with a three-day score of 266 after shooting an 85 Sunday, while Livingston claimed eighth with a 269 after also shooting 85. She was tied with one other golfer for eighth, but claimed the higher place on a tie-breaker. Another Pioneer, Stephanie Goggin '10, tied for 10th place with a 270 after shooting 92 on Sunday, but missed out on all-conference honors on the tie-breaker. Ashlen Matzdorf '11 was 21st with a 289 after shooting an 88 Sunday, Elaine Teo '12 was 22nd with a 291 after firing a 99 and Evelyn Anderson '12 tied for 25th with a 299 after shooting a 104. Grinnell had a team score of 1078 and was bettered only by Illinois College's 1028. That allowed the Lady Blues to claim their sixth team title in a row. Carroll University placed third with a 1115, Ripon College was fourth at 1118 and Monmouth College wound up fifth at 1167. The individual champion was Meredith Robinson of Illinois College, who had a 254. Teammate Ashley Edwards was second, five strokes behind Robinson.
