Outdoor Leadership Physical Education Course

The Outdoor Leadership class focuses on background knowledge necessary for many activities. This class is a great way for students interested in working for summer camps and other outdoor organizations to gain necessary and helpful knowledge as well as students wanting more background knowledge to partake in their own expeditions. This class is not about learning skills. Students wanting to expand their outdoor skill base should sign up for the appropriate physical education class or GORP recreation activity.

Climbing Leader Training

Climbing leader training primarily consists of current leaders mentoring leaders-in-training during a number of climbing sessions. Advanced workshops round out this experience. All head climbing leaders must be current in ARC First Aid and Adult CPR. Begin this process by talking to any head climbing leader at one of GORP's open climbs.

Leader Training Week

Off Campus trip leaders generally participate in GORP's leader training week prior to Fall Semester. Applications for this training are made available late in the Spring semester of the preceding year. Generally, applicants should have participated in at least two of the GORP trips they wish to lead and be close to becoming Grinnell College drivers. For more information about GORP's leadership week, contact the GORP Director.
