Hometown: Breckenridge, CO
Major: Sociology
My name is Macaela Holmes '10, I am a third year Sociology major. I plan to declare a concentration in American Studies sometime in the near future. I grew up in Breckenridge, Colorado where I actually rarely went skiing. At Grinnell, I am a student advisor on North Campus, a student supervisor for the Phonathon program, a reunion worker, student receptionist at the alumni office, and I am co-editor of Exit 182. My favorite place to study on campus is in the middle of Mac Field… unless it's winter when I prefer to study indoors. My hobbies include people watching, backpacking, traveling, text messaging, shoe shopping, and watching sports. As for my plan for Life after Grinnell, it changes daily between going to either business or law school… or maybe I will end up backpacking around the rainforest somewhere.
Hometown: Cooper City, Florida
Major: Political Science
My name is Matthew Horowitz and I am a third-year political science major and global development studies concentrator. As I am a non-static being in a non-static world, I'm not going to tell you much about myself because almost everything is still conjectural. Some well established propositions about myself that I can share with you, however, are that I have a passion for politics, the Mets, and my family (which includes a cluster of conventional and non-conventional members). My best efforts at speculation have me attending law school after Grinnell, naming my first dog Gizmo, practicing law for a while, and then maybe entering the political arena as a candidate.
Hometown: Flushing, New York
Major: Political Science
Jordan Levine is a third-year political science major and global development studies concentrator. His passions include politics, the Mets, traveling, and cooking. When Jordan is not drowning in his pile of homework, you can find him canvassing for the Campus Democrats, supervising the Phonathon team, or writing for the Scarlet and Black. Jordan will spend the fall semester abroad, partaking in the Grinnell-in-London program.
Hometown: Honolulu, Hawaii
Major: Biological Chemistry
My name is Jacques Nguyen, and I am currently a third-year Biological Chemistry/French double major. As a student from the sunny isles of Honolulu, Hawaii, I ventured a little bit further from home to attend Grinnell College in the Midwest--- and I am glad I did! I enjoy participating in an eclectic sort of extracurricular activities, ranging from student advising and multiculturalism to community services and biology research. I will be partaking in an off-campus program in Aix-en-Provence, France in the fall of 2008, and will be frantically studying for the MCAT upon returning in the spring of 2009.
Hometown:Chicago, Illinois
Major:Undeclared
My name's Sandra J. Torres '11. I grew up in Southside Chicago and graduated from Lincoln Park High School before attending Grinnell. I love science and planning to major in Biology. I want to become a doctor. I'm most heavily involved with SAA and GMotion, but do things here and there for various groups. I work in the dining hall, but will also work as a tour guide and volunteer at the Grinnell Regional Community Care clinic. In my spare time (which is rare) I like to watch movies, dance, sleep, and relax with friends doing absolutely nothing.
