Resources for U.S. Students

We get it—applying to college is a hectic process. Even once you've made the decision to apply to Grinnell College, it seems there are still a few hurdles to jump. Will you apply regular or early decision? When do you need to apply? Will you visit the school? How do you even get to Grinnell, Iowa? What is Grinnell like?

It may be a small consolation, but the application process is crazy for us, too. From the moment the first application rolls in right through New Student Orientation, Grinnell College is hard at work to support you and your application. We provide the information you need and encourage you to ask any questions you may have.

This site is designed to both simplify and enrich your application process. Arranging a visit? We're here for you. Organizing your application? Just follow our site's clear directions. Getting a feel for the school? Delve right in to Explore. Anything we can do to help—just ask.

Applying

There are several pieces of the application to assemble, and once the Office of Admissions receives all parts, we will consider your application. Some documents may be submitted online and some must be mailed to the College.

For step-by-step details and more information on the application process, visit Apply.

When to Apply

Grinnell College offers four ways of applying: Early Decision, Regular Decision, Early Admission, and Transfer.

When you apply as an Early Decision candidate, you agree to enroll at Grinnell College if accepted, and to withdraw all other applications from other institutions. We accept Early Decision applications at two times during the year. We accept Regular Decision applications at only one time during the year. Please see Timelines.

If you are a high school junior interested in Grinnell College, we offer Early Admission to some exceptional candidates. You will enroll at Grinnell rather than completing your secondary education.

For a thorough overview, please see Application Options.

You may already be a student at a university and are hoping to transfer to Grinnell College. We accept applications for transfer students two times a year. Please visit Transfers to learn more about your application process.

Visiting

We could talk about Grinnell all day, but you want to form your own opinion of it. Visiting Grinnell will show you what we have to offer, and help you decide if it's the right fit. We encourage you to visit the campus. Over the course of a couple days, you can sit in on classes, meet students, live in a dorm, talk with professors, explore the town, maybe even go to a lecture or a party.

Tell us when you want to visit, and we can help you plan everything from transportation to your campus tour with a Student Tour Guide.

Go to Visit to find out about interviews, Grinnell representatives in your area, and much more.
