Resources Available to Students on Campus

Students who have earned admission to Grinnell College have been quite successful during their secondary school experience; however, despite their high school success, the academic expectations of Grinnell College will be challenging to all our students. We realize there are high school environments that may have not been as rigorous in some areas as others; therefore, we offer the following resources to our students:

  • Writing Lab -- During individual sessions, students have the opportunity to have their writing assignments professionally critiqued prior to submitting their papers to professors for evaluation.
  • Reading Lab -- Students may use the Reading Lab for assistance with reading comprehension and vocabulary.
  • Math Lab -- The Math Lab provides students additional help with their quantitative skills during informal tutoring sessions.
  • Science Learning Center -- The Science Learning Center is a good resource for students seeking tutoring in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
  • The Tutoring Program -- The Academic Advising Office can arrange a tutor to aid any student struggling with humanities and social sciences.
  • Professors -- Professors will notice when students struggle in class because classes are so small and professors are committed to teaching the students. Professors hold office hours throughout the week, and students are encouraged to meet them for additional help.
