Chuck Sullivan Chuck Sullivan teaches cell and developmental biology courses in the Biology Department at Grinnell College. In 1983 he received his Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, College Park. Before beginning his faculty position at Grinnell in 1986, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Virginia where he began studying cell differentiation during embryonic development. His recent research projects with students have centered on how specialized cell types in embryos know when and where to form in the body. In addition to teaching biology courses, Professor Sullivan has taught six Tutorials on health care and looks forward to returning to the Washington DC area to examine government policies that affect the quality, access, and costs of health care. GIW 2009 will also take advantage government offices, federal research facilities, universities, hospitals, museums, private biotechnology companies, clinics, and non-governmental organizations in Washington to examine health care broadly, but with a focus on urban health.
