International Travel Opportunities - Faculty

Teaching
Grinnell faculty can spend a semester teaching at either the London or Washington campuses of the College. Through the Associated Colleges of the Midwest (ACM), Grinnell faculty can teach in. Through our partnership with Nanjing University in China, faculty can apply to teach a short course in Nanjing at the end of the spring semester.

Research Travel
The Committee to Support Faculty Scholarship provides generous support for faculty to travel internationally to attend conferences and pursue scholarly research. Guidelines for applying for funds are available at the Dean's Office Support for Faculty website.

Site Visits of Off-Campus Study Programs
Grinnell faculty are regularly sent to Grinnell's off-campus study locations to review the programs and recommend changes. Faculty who wish to serve as on-campus advisers for specific off-campus programs should contact the Director of Off-Campus Study and visit the Off-Campus Study website.

Familiarization Trips
The Center can nominate Grinnell faculty to participate in faculty development workshops and familiarization trips sponsored by The Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) or by The Institute for the International Education of Students (IES). Both of these organizations sponsor multiple trips during each academic year. For more information about specific trips, please visit the CIEE and IES websites.

Faculty Development Seminar
The Center sponsors a Faculty Development Seminar every other year. The members of the Seminar travel to an international destination or set of destinations in order to enhance the international dimension of the Grinnell curriculum and individual faculty members' scholarship. Both before and after travel, members of the Seminar meet on a regular basis to discuss and measure curricular and scholarly outcomes.
